In My Opinion...

About MustangMama

This is my area to talk about things that I am thrilled about, things I am angry about and just life in general. I'm a fairly opinionated, Christian, married mom of three kids, ages 17, 14 and 9. I just received a new Torch Red Mustang that I have lovingly named Giddy Up - Giddy for Short!

Selling - It's a Two Way Street - Just be Honest!

4:30 PM, Jan. 31, 2007 .. Posted in Work .. 0 comments .. 0 trackbacks .. Link

My profession involves selling - that means I spend a LOT of time on the phone talking to people and finding out how I can best help them.  I am not a "high pressure" sales person -  I honestly give them their options and if I sense nervousness about the purchase - I am always up front with them about whatever it is they are concerned about.  I have even told clients that maybe they should wait until they are financially in a better place to make a purchase.  I don't want anyone to bite off more than they can chew as it simply causes problems down the line.

Here is my upset.  I am honest, I spend a lot of time with people before there is ever a commitment to a purchase.  Many times I write up a sale and it doesn't end up going through and you know why?  Because the people I am working with are not being honest with me about either their budget or what their intent is.  If you are just looking for information - then tell your salesperson that - we don't want to harass you nor waste your time because the bottom line is - that wastes our time as well.    If what we are offering you isn't what you need - then just tell us - we don't bite and we'd appreciate the honesty.

I am just really tired of hearing that salespeople are "snakes in the grass" and aren't honest and forthright when the exact same statement can be said of those that we are offering our product to.  A little honesty goes a long, long way much of the time.  Are you tired of having to wait for the phone to go to voicemail for the fifth time because you know you can't afford whatever it is that the person on the other end of the  line is offering - be honest and tell them that - I bet the phone calls will stop!

I know I could get so much more done in a day if people would just tell me that either:

1. I don't need what you have to offer.

2.  I can't afford this right now.

3.  I'm just not interested.

My feelings won't be hurt because you have just freed my time to call someone that does need what I have, can afford it and is very interested.

Just be HONEST!

Live, Laugh & Love,

MustangMama
