Thank God it's Monday!?
Yes, you read it right. I am glad it's Monday and the weekend is over.
To say the least, it was not a very good one. Some kind of cosmic payback for the good weekend I had last weekend. How dare I think I can have 2 good ones in a row?
Friday - phone call from the xh asking when he can have Shelby come spend time w/him 'cuz he misses her and loves her and blah, blah, blah. I told him we could set it up for whatever time he wanted. It didn't matter cuz he would find a way to screw it up anyway. Something always "comes up" and he has to cancel. So I went through the motions and said I would bring her over Sunday afternoon.
Saturday morning - less than 12 hours after it was set up, he calls and says he will probably "be working" on Sunday and now he's not sure if he will be able to have Shelby come over after all. sucks to be right all the time! So, the rest of Saturday morning I spend cussing his name to the dogs because Shelby had spent the night at a friend's house and wasn't there. I didn't even tell her about going over to his house Sunday 'cuz I was sure it wouldn't happen. She gets excited about it and looks forward to it and gets mad when he cancels. Then I'm left to smooth things out. The afternoon I worked at H&R then picked Shelby up and went home to spend some quality time with her. Then the phone rings at 10:30 that night and it's one that I've known would come eventually but had no idea it would be coming already. My last remaining grandparent, my grandma on my mom's side had died Friday night. As my sister put it, our family tree is lookin' like Charlie Brown's pitiful lil Christmas twig.
Sunday - after church, Shelby & I go to meet my sister for brunch with a family friend who is just like another sister to us. She was in town for a few days from Montana, but was flying back yesterday afternoon. That was OK. It was good to see her again. As we were leaving the restaurant xh called and said that he was not working after all and I could go ahead and bring Shelby over and when was I going to be there? I told him that since he cancelled on her, we went ahead and made plans and if there was still time left after we were done, then maybe I would bring her over. It would depend on if she wanted to since she was still mad at him for cancelling in the first place. She wasn't too thrilled with the idea when I told her what he had called for. Our plans for the afternoon consisted of going shopping (retail therapy) 'cuz hey, what better reason to go shopping than discovering you've nothing to wear to grandma's funeral. I do, but sis didn't think blue jeans would quite cut it for her, so there really was no choice. Odd thing is, we both have black outfits for our other sister's wedding in May, (evening and elegant); but they haven't been tailored yet. So off we went, to one store in a little strip mall, then *gasp* THE MALL. Sis is "allergic to malls" but always manages to survive long enough to buy something while we're there. I got a couple outfits for a convention I'm going to at the end of this month and she found what she needed. When we were done it was 3pm and I decided I needed a few hours of quiet time to unwind so I talked Shelby into going to her dad's (it took a lot of talking and I cannot confirm or deny that there were bribes involved). When I dropped her off, he had the balls to bring a basket of dirty laundry to the car and asked if I would take it home and wash it!!! WTF?!?!?! I took the basket from his hands and dumped the clothes onto the ground into a puddle we were near. Since it'd been raining off & on since Thursday, and steadily most of Sunday, it was pretty big. I told him "well, they're wet, it's a start." and got in my car and took off, leaving him with his mouth hanging open and Shelby laughing. He didn't think it was too funny when I picked Shelby up and asked him if he wanted me to put them through a spin cycle for him. Anyway, today will probably be the only day I'm around this week, maybe Friday, but since grandma's funeral will be in one state and burial in another, I have no idea what the time frame for all this will be. Hope everybody has a good week.

Whew!
What a weekend. I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. And the deal with your X, too. It is such a shame when parents (your X) make life hard on their kids.
I hope the week turns around for you.
My thoughts & prayers are with you!

my own father pulled that crap on me for many years, and I disowned his ass in about 1990. Your X keeps it up, his daughter will do the same.
