Ok, on another blog that I read, there was a post about Wal-Mart and it started a debate.  So, I would like to know where you all stand on the Wal-Mart issue. Here is my personal viewpoint.

Personally, I like Wal-Mart. Simply for the fact that it's the store that best meets my needs for convenience and affordability for 95% of the stuff I buy. It also has a far better selection than the normal small-town grocery stores. Yes, I know about the reputation for treating its employees badly and/or not paying very well. BUT those people had a choice to accept job offers or not, and the ones that work there obviously accepted the job. If the working conditions were not favorable or acceptable once they started working, they always have the option of finding a different job. No one is forcing them to stay.  And there are always complaints that Wal-Mart runs the "mom & pop" stores out of town when they come in. "Mom & Pop" need to adapt and change with the times and become competitive if they want people to shop in their stores. Wal-Mart is going to build here in the town where I work and the debate rages. But if people would look around at the parking lots of the Wal-Marts in the surrounding area (anywhere from 18-40 miles away) there are always cars from this town and county in those parking lots. Once the store is built here, these customers and their money will stay at home and boost the local economy. Jobs, revenue and possibly more people or businesses coming to town because of it. Hmmmm...

Those are my thoughts on the matter, what are yours???

Ya know, we are a ONE income family, so we are fans of Wallys, K and Taarget. It is all good. Anyone who works there is lucky to have a job, IMHO, and if they don't like it, they can leave.
As far as Mom & Pop ops, it is 2006. Those are dead. get over it.
I am tired of Walmart bashing, myself.

I love Wally World!

I have been a big fan of Wal-Mart since the first store opened here 15 years ago. There are building a new one about 2 miles from our house and I am very excited about it.

Yes, they may hurt some small local businesses. But how many do they help? Every WalMart employees at least 250 people. And people like me can afford to buy the things we need.

I think where you stand on the Wal Mart issue may depend on how much money you have in your wallet.
