Sometimes Good Things Do Happen

My morning today delivered some bad news, some not-so-great news, and some good news.

Bad news - I did not get my tax refund today like I thought I was going to. So I went on the IRS website to check on it using the "Where's My Refund" link. It came up and said there was a delay processing it and gave an 800 number to call. So I did and found out (not surprisingly) that it had been delayed due to the amount due that the xh and I had from 2004 due to his collecting unemployment for over 1/2 the year. They are going to withhold that amount from my refund this year. I was expecting them to do this, but was hoping it wouldn't delay the refund. But it is delaying it and I will not have my refund before Shelby's birthday.

Not-so-great news - I will not get the full amount as described above, but will still get roughly 2/3 of it so I will be able to do most of the things with the money once I get it that I wanted to do. I will just be creative about how I do things until then.

Good news - I will have the refund mid-May so it will be before my sister's wedding so I will be able to pay for my hotel and assorted other things that are coming up due to the wedding.

Well, such is life. Things may not go exactly like you would like them to, but eventually they work out. I was talking about the whole refund situation with a co-worker just to vent and get it off my chest. She asked what I was going to do about the birthday, and I told her I would probably just have to talk to Shelby about things and tell her what happened and hope for the best. She said "No you won't. I will give you the money that you need to get her the bike she wants and you can pay me back when you get your refund.  Made me cry....I was so overwhelmed that someone would do that just out of the blue with no hesitation whatsoever. So, I am picking up a check from her this afternoon and going to get the bike since it's on sale until tomorrow. Shelby is going to a dance this evening so it's perfect timing because I can take it home & hide it and she won't see it. This has given me a much brighter outlook on things from this morning.    Hope everyone has a good weekend. I know mine will be.
