Spinning My WheelsTrying to get the next schedule done for work, which includes Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, & Christmas....uggggggghhhhhhh....It's bad enough in a normal year, but this year, we have a night nurse having surgery the day before Thanksgiving - and will be out for 12 weeks. Thanks a lot!!! Plus a couple day-shift people quit, which is never a huge deal until the holidays when nobody is interested in picking up extra shifts. I feel like I'm beating my head against a brick wall.
In other news, the "big child support payment" I've been supposed to get since a week ago has yet to show up. "A" told me last Friday she saw Dumbass' paycheck and it was only $76 for a whole week of work...so apparently it's been taken out of his pay, but for whatever reason, the employer hasn't sent it to the state. Nice. I know, the employer probably needs it for worse than I do....I mean what would I do with it, buy silly, trivial things like groceries and gas....I may even go crazy and get the kid some stuff she needs for basketball since the school doesn't furnish shorts for the team...
I've been exploring options for health insurance since last week's announcement that we are switching companies and the paycheck deduction every 2 weeks is too much for me to handle....turns out that my car insurance company won't even touch me for health insurance because of my weight and I was told that "unfortunately that's pretty much an industry-wide thing so you'd be better off just going through your employer". I checked into getting Shelby on Kids' Connection, which is Nebraska's Medicaid program for kids. Nope - I make too much money working 80 hrs per pay period. If I don't work the 80 hrs, I can't pay the rest of my bills. So, right now, I'm trying to wrap my head around the concept of paying $111.06 per check for insurance for the 2 of us, then $1000-2000 for deductible before insurance pays anything. There isn't even an office visit co-pay. It all goes toward the deductible first. Mind you, this year, the 2 of us combined haven't broken the $500 barrier. So, in my mind....I'm just throwing that money out the window every 2 weeks. $222 a month...that's a car payment. 2/3 of rent. Groceries for several weeks. The other option is to not take any insurance at all, and hope that nothing major happens to either of us. That would mean $176 a month extra in my pocket, which if I were disciplined enough, I could put in a savings account and leave it there in case we needed it. I don't think I'd want to put it all in my Flex account, because if you don't use that, you lose it.....OR!!! I could quit my job all together, go on unemployment/welfare and get everything taken care of, including my school costs next year!!!!!!! RIGHT!!!!!! I'd go stir crazy....I was off work for 6 months when I broke my arm in 1998 & about went nuts.
