We Have Materials for an Ark in the Garage

Apparently there was some hellacious weather last weekend while I was gone.  In Crete, where I work, they got over 6 inches of rain in an hour or so.  The town was flooded pretty bad.  Thankfully, my car was parked up on a hill and nothing happened to it.  Just about the whole town had water in their basements, leaking roofs, or both.  In Dorchester, where I live, (about 10 miles west of Crete) it was pretty much the same story.  Flooding, big amounts of rain, etc. but my house is OK.  There was stuff blown all over my yard and some tree branches down, but that was about it.  I guess though that there was a tornado on the ground just a few miles outside of Dorchester that tore up some farm buildings and wrecked some irrigation equipment on a couple farms.  The town where Leo & the kids live (about 30 miles away) was on the edge of the system.  He said they didn't get much of anything besides some rain.   So right now, it's just really soggy here.  It's rained every day for pretty much the last week.  Rivers are running high, ponds are over-ful, lakes are way up.  It's supposed to start clearing off tomorrow with still a small chance of rain, and then Wednesday through the weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny.  Hopefully we will dry out!

The long weekend was much needed funtime.  Along with all the work and meetings that happen at convention, there was lots of time for fun.  There was a DJ Thursday night, a live band Friday night, and Saturday night was the formal banquet and closing ceremony.

On the drive home, we drove in a thunderstorm and watched a wall cloud to the west of us, and it dropped probably 4 or 5 funnel clouds, but none of them touched down.  It was cool to watch, eerie and powerful and fascinating all at the same time.  The lightning and thunder were spectacular too.  I just love watching storms.

Well, better get going, I have a few more minutes to work today, and Shelby has a band concert tonight.

Thanks the stars you, Leo and all kids is ok. Watching them clouds would has been cool if me was watching them from me living room with the sunshining outside and no chance of it hitting me. Me doesnt like storms. Me also never lived through a torando thank you very much and doesn't want to have one happen up here any time soon. NO THX.

Me hopes that ya dries out soon and the rain stays away. It sounds like it pretty damn soggy where you is....... ;)

Glad ya had a good time at the convention. And that yer much needed break worked out good.

Later from the land that doesnt get hit with torando's very often whew whew whew.

I guess the yucky weather was happening all over the country. I'm so glad to hear that your home, Leo, and the children all made it OK.

That is so awesome that you so funnel clouds. I'm a weirdo and a weather nut. On my list of 20 things I want to do before I die, one is to see a tornado. I was in a tornado when I was 17, but it was at night and you couldn't see anything. I guess that is what peaked my interest. Did you take any pictures?
