Welcome Back from Vacation, Sorry About Your Knee, You Don't Have a Job Anymore

Thanks for all the well-wishes with my knee and the cautions about not overdoing it at work.  Funny thing, as the title states, I.NO.LONGER.HAVE.A.JOB.

I got in to work at 7:30 this morning, got to my desk, and my boss called me in to her office and informed me that my position had been eliminated. That's it. Kaput. You don't work here anymore.  I get 2 weeks' severance and my insurance continues til the end of the month. Mighty generous. I found out that one other person got the axe and another got cut from 40 hrs/week to 24.  I'd rather have gotten axed completely than get cut to 24 hrs a week.

So this morning I filled out application paperwork for food stamps, medicaid, energy assistance, etc. I got an unemployment claim open, and registered for work at workforce development.  I asked if I had to accept a job that would interfere with school or didn't pay enough while I was going to schoool.  They told me that there was a way to get the 2 job contact per week requirement waived so I could just collect unemployment while going to school. Hopefully I can get that.

My follow up for my knee is Wednesday - at the facility I used to work for. When this ordeal is over, I'm switching to a doc at the other clinic in town. Why should I be loyal to them after getting screwed over like I did. 

I'm not too upset anymore, but I was a little bit this morning.  I said 3 weeks ago when they came to me with that "people greeter" bullshit that it felt like I was being pushed out the door and they denied it. Heh. I guess we know who was right & wrong about that now, don't we?????

So now, I have plenty of time for packing and getting ready to move. Which, according to my visit with the landlady this morning is going ahead of schedule and I should be ready to move the weekend of the 24th.

I was thinking there had to be something else since things happen in 3's.  Leo's boat, my knee, and now my job. At least the trio is complete and we can move on.

OMG. Come back from vacation and get canned within hours?? Nice place me gots to say. As you said though, ya thought they was starting to show ya the door and yup you was right. Now, whose gonna take care of the PrimaDonna's?? Oh to be a fly on the wall of that place. That just sucks big time.

But hopefully yer gonna be able to collect U.I. and not have to look for work while doing yer schooling. Just remember this. You is better than that. Just to bad it couldnt have been yo doing the quitting instead of the other way around..

About the knee?? Sorry to hear about that. But yer leg looked so cute in the picture. LOL . I's joking and you knows that me hopes.
