WHAT THE HELL??? Would you put this into your teenaged daughter's body???

Posted at 1:59 PM, Jun. 29, 2006

OK, my American sisters get involved!!! I am OUTRAGED!  I can't believe this, but if you have teenaged daughters, or daughters in general you NEED to read this!  I can't believe the odacity of the American Regulators!  This is INSANE!

I can't believe that they actually think this could be good for a girl who is going through her most physical and psychological changes of her life!  I would NEVER do this to my child and I don't think it is good for anyone to pump their bodies full of a vaccine that they aren't sure of!!!

Please read this.  it is important.

I hadn't heard of that before you posted it. It just floors me what drug companies will do to make a buck. 3 shots over a 6 month period @ $120 each?!? I think it's good to have the vaccine available, but I don't think it should be a required vaccination. Have they studied it enough to know whether there are side effects either immediately or down the road? It should be up to the parents to decide if they want their preteen daughter to have it or not. In my case, I would say nope! Definitely not at 12 - maybe re-evaluate the situation in a few years and then decide but no shots like that now.

History

I was in the trials for the vaccine about 6 years ago. It is the only known way to prevent cervical cancer.

Will I recommend our 14 year old daughter get it? I am not sure. But, I do think it is a good thing overall. If only they would make it available for free to 3rd world countries where cervical cancer is only second to AIDS at the prodominant female killer.

Glad I have several years

I knew about the vaccine, but didn't know that they are wanting to do this. I hesitated about the Chicken Pox vaccine when my son was a toddler. I finally let them give it to him because I had Shingles as a result of Chicken Pox (of course)and didn't want him to go through that. Then, I find out that they THINK that it will last until they are about 12 years old. Of course, the schools here made it mandatory so I would have had to get it done anyway (or start homeschooling sooner). I am glad that I don't have to worry about this one until much later (daughter only 9 months old). Even though, I have had Cervical cancer (an no STDs that could have caused it), I am not comfortable with this after such a relatively short period of time. Look at the Polio Vaccines, they changed them after all this time because they figured out that they are not as safe as they had thought.
