Quick and Easy Ways to
Get Stress Free

Being a mother is the greatest job on the planet, yet it can certainly be one of the toughest and most stressful jobs that anyone can have with long hours and constant looking out for your children. Despite this, there is no other job that I would prefer to have! However there are times, when you're spending 24 hours a day and seven days a week in mother mode, you need to take a break and de-stress or the continual cleaning and picking up discarded toys around the house takes its toll and you're put in an off mood, leaving you no use to yourself or your children. The following list details some of my favourite ways to get stress free after long week.

·        Weekend Break

Whether you drop your child or children off at your parents on a Friday evening and drive to another domestic city or fly out to another part of the world for a couple of days with either your partner or with friends, there is nothing more liberating than knowing your children are cared for by family so that you can finish being a mother for the weekend and just be yourself for a short time. Whether you dance and drink the weekend away, visit the sights of your new location or just book yourself in for a pampering spa weekend the opportunity to be yourself and not worry about having to be awake at 5am to care for children and clean the house blows the stresses of the week and parenthood right out the window.

·        Get out of the House

Not all of us have the time or family support network to afford us the chance to leave our children for a weekend and travel to be ourselves and relax. Some of us need to squeeze in the time to de-stress during the week and the best way to do this is just to leave the house for a while, thus removing yourself from being a parent for a short while. Meeting friends and going shopping, having lunch and a coffee is a great way to not be a parent for a short time, while a personal favourite of mine is grabbing some exercise when my partner is home. Whether I choose just to go for a run or a cycle instead of hitting the gym the hour of sweating out the calories makes me feel better and, once I've showered and changed, I'm ready to take on the world once again!

·        Relax at Home

Although I have found that removing yourself from the stresses of home are the best way to solve the issue of being stressed out, I have also found some great ways of relaxing and chilling out in my own home. These involve the children being asleep so that I can watch my favourite TV series' and films or firing up my laptop to play some of my favourite games. I have been known to get sucked into games on Facebook, such as Candy Crush Saga and Farmville, in an evening, but my guilty pleasure is to deposit a few pounds online and to play online bingo at Butlers Bingo. The games do not last long and with the chance of winning big cash prizes as well as chatting with like minded people sees the stresses of the day disappear while I'm relaxing on the couch in the sitting room or tucked up in bed.

While being a parent is a great job we all need time to relax and be ourselves outside of the role of being a mother so that the stresses do not overtake us. There are numerous things we can do to prevent being overtaken by the stress of parenthood, with some of the options available to do for free, and once we're less stressed then we're going to happier and enjoy the time with our children so much more.
